Just breathe. Isn’t it delicious?
We take our breathing for granted as it is part of our lives every minute of everyday. But if you can, just for a moment, be mindful of your breath. What I mean is, pay attention to it, feel it being drawn in, filling your lungs and expanding your belly and chest. Then as you exhale, push out all of the stale air, making room for your next deep fresh breath. That such a simple act can relax you, center you and relieve what stresses are thrown your way is nothing short of wondrous.
Lately, with this winter weather dragging on and various stressors falling in my path, I have found that just focusing on my breath is such a relief. The awareness of my physical body after mindful breathing makes me want to stretch to further let go of the “crap” that ails me. It feels like I’m in a better place mentally and physically to face the day and whatever challenges it includes.
Often when we are angry, stressed, anxious or sad, our breath is negatively impacted with shallow breaths or even holding our breath. A quick fix is to go back to your breath, paying attention to it, filling our lungs with nourishing oxygen, life giving energy. If you have the time, take a peek at this website for more info:
