Tuesdays with Mary, 4/1/14, Happy Fool’s Day
I’m a firm believer in foolishness of most any kind so Happy Fool’s Day to everyone! Since it’s falling on a Tuesday this year, I thought we could chat about not being foolish with self care. Simple, quick additions to your daily habits can help you feel so much better overall and don’t we all deserve to feel better?
If we all practiced a bit of mindfulness when we go about our day, we can add little “tweaks” when doing something like brushing our teeth or vacuuming.
For example, use your non dominant hand when vacuuming or brushing your teeth and give your brain some exercise.
Stretch every day when you get out of bed, just a minute or two, and again when you go to bed to give those tight muscles some space.
Sprinkle some sliced almonds, chia seeds and/or craisins in your salads for a little extra excitement in your diet.
Smile more often, even if you don’t feel like it, it’s good for your face and your soul.
Do some meaningful breathing (maybe 10 breaths) while you’re taking a shower, of course not when you’re singing.
Get your hands dirty in some real soil, either adopt a houseplant or try your hand at gardening, nothing like a little nature in your hands to improve your outlook.
And finally, be kind as often as you can, in whatever small way you can, it really makes you feel good. Wouldn’t you like a little more kindness in your life? Of course you would, so try some random acts of kindness and leave your wonderful mark on the Universe
P.S. Regular massage is good for you too; this month’s special is a 30 minute chakra chelation and a 30 minute massage for $30. Your chakras are energy fields in your body that can become blocked and this chelation opens them to allow your life energies to flow better. Give it a try and see how you feel!
Peace out,
Mary
