“Be kind Mary Teresa” my mom used to say when I was growing up. It was her mantra of sorts, using it to explain why she was helping someone or to scold me when I said something mean. And since I knew everything when I was younger, I thought she was taking “what would Jesus do” a bit too seriously.
Nowadays, I hear that mantra of hers in my head and I try to honor her memory. Some days are more difficult than others, yet just a smile or a moment of assistance to another makes me feel, I don’t know, nice. So sappy, right? Random acts of kindness have been known to be quite addicting; making good karma feels good. Try to pay things forward when you can, when your spirit moves you. I know we can make this world a better place together; sappy but true.
