Tuesdays with Mary, 5/13/14, Patience
Patience pays us in many small ways that makes our busier lives easier. It’s so true and definitely easier said than done. Please consider the thought for a moment , it’s at least worth trying when opportunities arise. At first, you may find the moment to be patient passes before you realize it . But as you become aware of your patience in a situation, you will be more likely to catch yourself before you lose it. And in time, it will become easier to use patience to help you stay off that awful roller-coaster ride of emotions.
Now please understand that I’m not encouraging you to be a doormat when others take advantage. We must have limits with others, we must respect ourselves always. But you can choose how you respond to any situation, it just takes some practice with self awareness. Think about a day in your life when you lose your patience and how it makes you feel. How would your day have gone if you didn’t lose your patience?
Our bodies react poorly when submitted to stress often, you know that. Therefore, being patient is good for you since it will lessen those stressful moments and their effects. Be aware of your patience when dealing with others and increase your success by keeping balance in your life.
Make time for a walk, some yoga, a meditation, a good night’s sleep or a massage. Don’t over schedule or overextend yourself; it’s true there are only so many hours in a day. And there is no prize for the one that gets the most stuff done in a day, not one that’s worth your health anyway. Just think about it…..
Peace and joy,
Mary
