Trees are cool. Many believe that a trees spans 3 worlds, the underworld (roots), earth (trunk) and heaven (branches). Isn’t that a wonderful point to ponder? I love to look at trees during our changing seasons and note how many different kinds of trees are around. How most of them are flexible enough to withstand the turbulent storms of summer and winter, undaunted as they reach toward the heavens.
During the spring and summer, my mother’s words echo in my mind as she marveled at the beautiful green hues of the woods. She especially loved the colors of fall, like a quilt of brilliance. During the summer, she used to read Grimm’s Fairy Tales to us in the shade of a big tree outside our apartment. Still have that book
Now we have a 50+ year old Maple in our backyard that was planted by my father-in-law. It gives wonderful shade in summer, sculptural images in the winter, plus lots of leaves in the very late fall. Sitting under our tree on a summer’s evening, by the flickering flames of the fire pit, looking up into it’s marvelous canopy is like heaven on earth. Trees are so cool.
